Florida Greek Standards
During the 2004-2005 academic year the University of Florida hired two national consultants to conduct an assessment of the Florida Greek community. One of the consultants' findings was no clear standard existed to communicate expectations and accountability requirements for sororities and fraternities. In response to this, the Office of Sorority & Fraternity Affairs along with leadership from the Greek Councils created the Florida Greek Standard.
The Florida Greek Standard, unveiled in spring 2006, requires chapters to achieve minimum progress in the areas of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Community, Risk Management, and Facility Management, where applicable. The Office of Sorority & Fraternity Affairs conducts and coordinates trainings in the aforementioned areas designed to assist chapters in meeting these standards.
Any chapter that DOES NOT meet the standards is reviewed by a committee that recommends interventions for success. After two consecutive semesters of not meeting standards, a chapter's University recognition may be under review for potential revocation.
